Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
